Wow. I'm very girly. Girliness is not a requirement in your suggestions! So please, tell me, what are your favourite classics?
Welcome to the Drive, where I will write about all things to do with The Drive to write, as well as all the other drives in my life. Who am I? I'm the proud mama of 1.75 novels, 2 beautiful human children, and 1 amazing speech therapy clinic. :) My favourite classic author is Collette, favourite contemporary is a tie between Scott Westerfeld and Leigh Bardugo. I love going to the beach, but hate sand in my stuff. I love travelling, but hate crowded planes. Read on for more, and enjoy!
Oh I'm curious!
ReplyDeleteHere are my pics off the top of my head!
Little Women; Black Beauty; A Little Princess; The Woman in White; Anne of Green Gables
Mazo De La Roche's (Canadian author) series (16 books) called the Jalna Series or the Whiteoak Chronicles. It covers 100 years of the Whiteoak family from the time a governess came to the home and married Whiteoak. It follows her life to very old age and includes all the generations. It was a fantastic series I read in the 70's but were started in 1927.
ReplyDeleteHenry James' Portrait of a Lady
ReplyDeleteI didn't read it until college, and was blown away by it. Also love Dickens' Bleak House, among many of his others.
And yes, I second Jane Eyre and Little Women!
I'd have to say:
ReplyDeleteJane Eyre
Jane Eyre
and...oh! Jane Eyre
Best book ever ;)
